Humans are bombarded each day with sensory messages. Our immediate response is to tune out most of it. Rather than competing loudly for the most attention, I believe an alluring design gently pulls the viewer and allows them to process its meaning at their own pace.
I begin by sketching on paper. It feels organic and gives calm inspiration. After a few drawings, the intent becomes clearer.
Eventually things begin coming together and I may riff on the idea digitally.
I don't let the design steamroll the content. It holds the message the way a basket holds fruit - keep the appeal focused while holding it together.
I have to consider how a design will present across different mediums. Something elegant will never become intrusive.
